2.30 am I woke up and start to walk toward the mountain. There’s a steep and winding paved road all the way to Nemrut and it’s posible to get there with your own vehicle. Karadut pansion can also arrange a transport / taxi but it’s out of my budget. For this kind of situation I’m always ready with my own map, flashlight, two strong legs and nothing to worry about.
This site is actually a tomb built by King Antiochus Theos of Commagene, along with the huge statues of lions, eagles, and various Greek, Armenian and Persian gods such as Hercules, Zeus, Ahura Mazda, Tyche and Apollo.
The sun was already high when I started descending. Such a tiring morning, I was so glad when I arrived back at the pansiyon they served me a nice turkish breakfast!
